   The acoustical value of a metal ceiling is achieved from sound passing through  perforations in the metal and being absorbed by an acoustical backer.  Micro- perforations can be barely visible to the naked eye from 10’or completely open wire mesh ceiling can allow the deck above to be visible.  The possibilities with metal ceilings are endless. 

    The latest trend in metal ceilings has been in the faux wood finish category.  The quality of the faux finishes today give the warm look of wood with the consistency and stability of a metal ceiling.

Barrett-Homes Contractors Inc. recently performed the installation of the architectural wood features at NAU ACC Hilltop Housing Community Center.  This short video highlights the Aspen log wall feature as well as the various Cedar wood plank ceiling and walls.

Walkable Ceilings

Walkable ceiling assemblies are an efficient way to design clean room and manufacturing spaces that require frequent reconfiguration and re-tooling.  These ceiling assemblies allow access to the complete plenum that a catwalk system often cannot.

The ceiling grid suspension system is designed to carry the heavy loads associated with clean room ceilings as well as the live loads associated with foot traffic.  These systems are hung from the structure using threaded rods and are bolted together with heavy duty cast brackets. One example of these systems is Gordon Incorporated’s Walkable, Gasketed Ceiling System (“WG Cleanroom Grid”).  Gordon Incorporated

The ceiling panels are 2 ¾” thick aluminum honeycomb sandwiched between a face sheet of white aluminum and an aluminum diamond-plate tread back sheet.   These panels can carry loads in excess of 4,000 pounds.  Webb Core, Inc.
